Sol Survivor is an artillery shooter similar to Scorched Earth or Worms, but with orbital mechanics.

To play

up/down - Increase/decrease launch power
left/right - aim

X (x on keyboard) - fire
O (z on keyboard) - weapon select mode

In weapon select mode, up/down selects weapons and O confirms and switches back to fire mode.

Weapons

There are 5 weapons available in each planet's arsenal:

Nuke (orange)

The basic standard weapon. A single warhead that launches, hits something and explodes. Unlimited ammo. Does a high amount of damage, but trickier to aim long distances.

Quantum Bomb (blue)

Once launched, hit the fire button (X) again to detonate for a large area-of-effect. If detonated very close to a planet it creates the largest amount of damage, but if it hits a planet without going off it does less damage than the nuke. Can also damage multiple planets at once in its blast radius.

MIRV (green)

Shortly after launch the MIRV splits into 5 independent warheads. Each does slightly less damage than the nuke, but when clustered together they can be devastating. They can also diverge and hit multiple targets

Remote Controlled MIRV (yellow)

The RC MIRV can be remotely detonated by hitting the fire button (X). It has a wider spread pattern than the auto MIRV which can be an advantage in certain circumstances, but also trickier to control.

Laser (red)

The laser is a single shot weapon that will go through most celestial bodies, although it cannot penetrate the sun. It does moderate damage, and is not affected by gravity, won't be blocked by asteroids, and can go through multiple planets in a row.

Other tips

The strength of gravity is affected by both the type of star and its size. Black holes have the strongest gravity, followed by blue stars, yellow stars, intense white stars and finally dim yellow stars with the weakest gravity.

In addition to the sun, the planets also have their own weaker gravity. This will affect the trajectory of a projectile and sometimes deflect them away from the intended target. But it can also be used to one's advantage, as a slow moving projectile close to a planet will tend to fall into it. Asteroids do not have gravity.

There is a small health bar displayed above each planet when in weapon select mode, which can help the player decide on targets.

Be default, the starting player (either blue or orange) is selected randomly. However, if playing multiple rounds with a friend, the starting player can be selected from the options menu to ensure a fair start for each round.
